Coopérative de l'Alibori is a 1,200-member agricultural cooperative in northern Benin, specializing in cotton and maize cultivation across 8,000 hectares. Faced with increasing climate volatility, the cooperative partnered with Gytev to deploy Rio.
The Challenge
Farmers relied on generational knowledge and coarse weather forecasts. Water stress, pest outbreaks, and soil degradation were detected too late, leading to crop losses averaging 22% per season.
The Solution
Gytev deployed Rio across 8,000 hectares using satellite imagery, soil sensors, and weather station data. The AI provides field-level water stress predictions 72 hours in advance, pest risk alerts, and optimized irrigation schedules via SMS.
The Results
Within the first growing season, the cooperative reduced water waste by 34% and increased yield by 18%. Crop losses dropped from 22% to under 8%.
